Kapol Usal-Misal Masala

Kapol Usal-Misal Masala is a blend for the spiced peas and gravy used in usal, with coriander, pepper, clove, fennel and sesame among its ingredients.

Kapol’s recipe cooks boiled white peas with onion, garlic and coconut, using 3 teaspoons of masala for 200 g peas. Add water and let the mixture cook for about 15 minutes. You can serve this usal as it is, or use it as the hot base for misal.
